Question 1: How did you start volunteering at The Ronald McDonald House?
- "I started volunteering when my daughter Hunter was going to Bishop Ready and needed service hours" (T. Clifton, personal interview, August 16, 2018).
Question 2: How has volunteering changed you?
- "Volunteering has made me concerned of what others are going through. Plus it also has made me have a servants heart meaning I always am now trying to serve others in anyway possible" (T. Clifton, personal interview, August 16, 2018).
Question 3: What is your favorite thing about volunteering?
- "My favorite thing is just being able to help someone because I know what it feels like to go through that. When my son was sick and we had to stay at The Ronald McDonald House and the volunteers always helped us, and so it just feels great to give back and help" (T. Clifton, personal interview, August 16, 2018).
Question 4: How do you apply what you do at the RMH to your daily life?
- "I need to work on applying it more, but it is easy to want to help people when you actually see them and I want to serve them, but I do not necessarily do I follow that everyday. I am guilty of not always extending myself to the level where I could extend myself to help others. In my job I work as a case manager for an insurance company, and we serve a population that is very poor, and we do help provide for those people. So on the job I am always serving and trying to apply that same servant attitude" (T. Clifton, personal interview, August 16, 2018).
Question 5: What challenges have you faced as a volunteer?
- "I have faced challenges as a volunteer when there is too many volunteers there because it is hard to find work to do. Also I struggle with getting a babysitter for my younger kids who cannot volunteer, and this makes it hard to volunteer more" (T. Clifton, personal interview, August 16, 2018).
